LEVITY
I have stood inside the young garden and felt the distant coercion wafting from the mixing and mingling of the electromagnetic fields emanating from the gas gods of our solar system. I have witnessed as these forces coaxed the crops and animals to reach upward; sensed the dull pull when putting my arms around a pine, and felt my own insatiable desire to experience the stars. The wisdom that is being cast across our planet enters our atmosphere as a mosaic. It gives us the hunger for information and understanding and is governed by a physical realm where our spiritual tests are manifested by the mineral and chemical relationships of our universe.
These forces have, season after season, guided the okra above my head and charged humanity with the puzzle of lift off. Much of the life processes happening every second on the planet in any given moment are based on the encouragement of the entity to diffuse. Density becomes locked into the duality of gravity and levity, and a dance ensues in which all beings are cradled as their weight becomes neutralized. They are able to grow and breathe, even swim, run, climb, or fly.
The table of elements maps the mosaic of energies being expressed on this planet, revealing to us the building blocks in which the faculties of the organism are created. These distinct elements carry with them a particular version of wisdom, a signature, that when combined with other elements in alchemical life processes, impart an archetypal expression and inclination to the subtle energies of the earthen experience.
As the organisms propagate into their realm, or fractal outward, they become more refined or degraded depending on the availability of a holistic and clean array of elements in their environment. This incredibly complex system of elements must exist within its most kinetic state for wellness to be held within the organism. As stagnations and blockages discourage the natural flow of energy, illness, poor growth, and an inability to interpret levity is experienced.
All natural forces exhibit duality and levity is as real and powerful as its counter-balance gravity. We can see it and feel it at play within the physical and spiritual realms we wander through. In the spiritual, there are few in this existence that truly embody the qualities of levity more than children. While all entities on Earth exist within the push and pull of gravity and levity, children carry with them a spiritual buoyancy which is yet unweighted by the heaviness of maturity. Saturn has yet to bring forth reckoning and their tiny, inspired souls grow free on the breezes of life like seedlings planted in spring. This energy serves as a softening agent that brings to the natural world around it a sense of wonder and balance, a curiosity that is pure, irrepressible, and without selfish intent.
I have walked the trails of my farm and felt the weight of losses and stood helpless among the battles that rage and I have seen these same problems healed through inspiration born of the laughter and footsteps of children. Their sense of gratitude for their experiences breathes new life into natural projects and is restorative to the heart and mind of a tired steward.
Children are not long separated from the source, and their energy acts as medicine on Earth. As we age, our guiding soul-contracts, coincidences, and chance meetings change the nature of our energy, and we slowly progress throughout our lives, traveling far from our origins. This carries us away from source and, as such, away from some of the comfort and stability we find before birth, connected to the oneness of all. Gravity literally takes its toll on our bodies and spirits over time; trauma serving as the counter weight to inspiration.
These experiences carve us into beings whose individual consciousness dreams of the world through a certain lens. Through this process, every possible thought, creation, and emotion is happening simultaneously throughout our waking and dreaming civilization. The patterns of our soul continue to spiral out into the cosmos as our lifetimes connect and swirl in space and time like strands of DNA.
The suspension system that keeps us in this experience is created by this give and take. This tug of war between reaching and seeking our center keeps us afloat in the veins of possibilities that branch in every direction. To be on Earth is to rise and fall every morning and evening. It is to walk the land connected to it, with our arms, hearts, and minds swaying like branches on the wind.
It is to breathe the air and at the same time feel the soil between our toes. For our eyes, noses, and mouths to be positioned within the gaseous realm of flowering and fruiting plants is to be attuned to the virility of our world. When our time on Earth comes to an end, gravity reins us back in and we are recycled through the transformative changes in energetic resonance, represented physically by the elemental breakdown of our bodies.
Another essential medicine I’ve encountered on my path for heavy times is the levity achieved through laughter. The only force strong enough to disconnect our bodies and minds from the weight of trauma, loss, and depression is making light of it. Laughter acknowledges how much we have to learn about this existence we occupy.
It takes the burden of having to know and understand everything off of our shoulders and connects us instead to gratitude. Comedy has the power to call attention to a problem in our lives, relationships, and civilizations and guide us into a higher understanding. In my own life, laughter has done what a bottle of booze cannot and has aided me in overcoming the claustrophobic arms of my fragile ego.
Laughter and comedy, of course, are one of the many expressions of love we are able to experience as human beings. Just as selfishness, hatred, injustice, and greed hold us back, love in all its beautiful forms is the super power that we often keep repressed deep within, too terrified of its strength to use. If we could all interact with this world as if it were a miracle and reach to each other with our love, our reality would erupt in experiences of joy, understanding, and elevation. Love is the levity that can guide our souls back together, back home.
The more we choose to love and acknowledge our connections to all living systems and energies, the more capable of utilizing the forces of this realm we become. Our true test in this incarnation is to experience pain, betrayal, and loss and yet endeavor to carry love in our hearts.
We carry it for all inhabiting the living fabric of our world and especially for the human beings who walk along its intricate surface, too weighted down by their own trauma to tap into the light that unceasingly shines within. Our own love, our own levity, becomes our peace offering to our fellow tortured souls; each soul an essential cell that builds the shared consciousness of our living planet. The more souls walking the path towards healing, the more light becomes available for us all.
